The Best GB WhatsApp Themes in 2026 (And How to Install Them)

GB WhatsApp's built-in theme store has grown to over 4,000 entries, and browsing all of them is not a good use of anyone's evening. Most are minor palette swaps of the same handful of layouts. Below are the five categories actually worth checking, plus the install step people most often get wrong, and quick fixes for the three things that most commonly go sideways.
The five categories worth your time
Minimal / OneUI-style
Flat colours, rounded bubbles, close to Samsung One UI defaults. The most-downloaded category by a wide margin — safe pick if you just want a cleaner look than stock.
Dark AMOLED
True black backgrounds (not just dark grey) — genuinely saves battery on AMOLED screens and is easiest on the eyes at night. Look for themes explicitly labelled "AMOLED", not just "dark".
iOS-style
Mimics iMessage bubble shapes and iOS system fonts. Popular but the most likely to look slightly "off" after an app update, since it depends on UI elements that change between versions.
Colour-pack / gradient
Vibrant gradients on the header and bubbles. Fun, but harder to read in bright sunlight — skip these if you use GB WhatsApp outdoors a lot.
Minimal icon-pack only
Doesn't touch bubbles or colours — just replaces the app icon and a few in-app icons. The lowest-risk option if a full theme swap ever causes glitches.
How installation actually works
- 1 Open GB WhatsApp → Settings → Theme Store (not your phone's regular Settings app).
- 2 Browse or search a category, then tap a theme thumbnail to preview it full-screen before installing.
- 3 Tap Apply. The app restarts automatically to load the new theme — this takes 2-4 seconds and is normal, not a crash.
- 4 If a theme looks broken after installing (missing icons, wrong colours), restart the app manually once more from your app switcher.

When a theme doesn't behave
Theme downloaded but never applies
Usually a partial download over a weak connection. Delete it from Theme Store → My Themes and re-download on a stable connection rather than importing a saved file manually.
Some icons still look default after applying
A handful of system icons (permission dialogs, notification icons) are controlled by Android itself, not the theme — a few mismatched icons after a theme change is expected, not a bug.
App feels slower after installing a heavy gradient theme
Large background images in some community themes are unoptimised. Switching to a flat-colour theme in the Minimal category usually restores normal speed immediately.
